Naeve Lustig's References

Mike Van Iderstine | Field Hockey Canada

Please accept my endorsement for Naeve Lustig for your university program. I have had the privilege of coaching Naeve for 3 years, in both club and national programming. Naeve has been a key provider for her club Sea to Sky FHC and a key athlete within our NextGen Program at Field Hockey Canada. Her hard work and dedication resulted in Naeve to be selected for the U17 Women’s National Team this past spring on their tour to Holland.

Naeve has and continuously shows growth in her development as a goalkeeper in both daily training and competition environments. She has a great technical base skill set, such as pad saves, sliding and clearances, and ability to make repetitive saves. Naeve can make critical saves in high pressure game situations and has significantly improved her ability to close space within the 9-yard area. She has improved her footwork, as well as her agility to continue to make 2ndand 3rd phase of play saves. Naeve has built her communication skills to be able to guide her defensive line, as well as improved her tactical understanding of her teams’ principals and structures. She is working to strengthen her hand skills for balls coming high towards net from hits, flicks and defections.

Off the field Naeve is an excellent teammate who can be relied upon to support her teammates, as well as contributes positively to the group’s team culture. I believe Naeve would be an outstanding overall fit for your program and can be an impact player at a NCAA or U SPORTS university, while contributing to your program’s team culture and performance.

privilege of coaching for the past three years. As a goal keeper, Naeve has shown

remarkable growth and dedication, quickly rising to become one of the top U17

pleasure of being the head coach, is a testament to her exceptional skills and

commitment to the sport.

Naeve's development over the past three years has been truly impressive. She has

Alex McRoberts | Goal Keeper Coach

I’m writing to present a reference for Naeve Lustig. I’ve been fortunate enough to coach Naeve for over 18 months. In that time, I’ve seen her develop as a naturally athletic goalkeeper into a talented shot stopper, and one I’m confident will thrive in any high performance team environment.

Naeve is naturally athletic, which puts her at a competitive advantage against other goalkeepers of her age. Naeve is a visual learner. Combining both her athleticism and learning style, Naeve is quick to pick up new skills in practices and then execute them in games.

For example, Naeve has been working on her kick saves. She was quick to learn the technique, executing the technique as demonstrated, and has been continuing to master and refine the skill since. She remarked in our subsequent practice that she used the kick technique to make saves to clear the ball, preventing rebounds in her next game after learning the technique.

In practice sessions, Naeve is always pushing herself to improve. Her technical skills continue to improve with regular frequency. As noted, in the last year, she has developed strong kick rebound control. She has been working to improve her stick and glove work which I would now rate as among the best for her age cohort in Canada.

As a multisport athlete, Naeve continues to apply and modify skills learned as a Soccer goalkeeper back to her position in Field Hockey. As a coach, I recognize the value of this, and find it to be a rare skill among athletes.

Naeve demonstrates high levels of self confidence, and yet remains incredibly humble. She has frequently set multiple goals over the course of the last 18 months, to be selected for Traveling Teams, and Representative Teams. She has overcome every challenge put in front of her, and achieved every goal she has set out.

Naeve has continually demonstrated a commitment to learning to grow as a goalkeeper. She will ask enough questions to understand, and then will begin to execute, and refine her technique through exercises. She continues to surprise me with her speed of learning, and is always willing to listen to feedback and push herself to improve.

Naeve will continue to develop and grow thanks to her determination and desire for learning. I highly recommend Naeve where she would be able to contribute and grow in a high performance environment.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any further questions..

Sincerely,

Alex McRoberts
